Mahlette Betre — Chief Operating Officer
Mahlette Betre has over 20 years of experience working at the intersection of business, environment, and community well-being. As Chief Operating Officer of Intrinsic Exchange Group (IEG), Mahlette focuses on executing business strategy, overseeing Natural Asset Company (NAC) development, and managing relationships with key clients and stakeholders to realize IEG’s bold vision.
Before joining IEG, Mahlette held technical and senior roles at RESOLVE, the World Bank, and Conservation International (CI), where she drove solutions for nature, climate, and people. During her decade at CI, she led strategic partnerships with global corporations, directing large-scale investments toward conservation priorities. She provided guidance on environmental and social safeguards, helping companies, particularly in the extractive sector, embed responsible and sustainable practices into their core strategies.
Mahlette holds a M.A. in Environmental Studies from York University and a B.S. in Environmental Biology from Queens University. She is based in Washington, D.C. , and serves on the U.S. Board of Directors for Farm Africa and the Board of Advisors for RESOLVE.
